K. W. Lesanya Sethumdee (Year 13), has been selected to Sri Lanka Women’s Table Tennis Team

One of our own Sokians, K. W. Lesanya Sethumdee (Year 13), has been selected to represent the Sri Lanka Women’s Table Tennis Team at the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships London 2026.

Suthumdee’s selection for this prestigious global tournament marks a significant achievement, highlighting her dedication, discipline, and consistent performance in the sport of table tennis. The ITTF World Championships bring together the finest players from around the world, making it one of the most competitive and highly regarded events in the sport. This is a remarkable international achievement, and as Old Sokians UK (OS-UK) would like to come together to recognise and celebrate her success.  OS-UK is proud to sponsor her to purchase a Table Tennis Racket worth nearly Rs 140,000.

For Sokians, her participation is more than just a sporting milestone—it is a moment of pride. Having developed her skills through years of hard work and perseverance, Suthumdee now steps onto one of the biggest stages in international table tennis, carrying the hopes and support of her community and the country. In the lead-up to the tournament, Suthumdee has been undergoing intensive preparation, focusing on refining her technique, strengthening her strategy, and building the mental resilience required to compete at the highest level. Facing world-class opponents will undoubtedly be a challenge, but it is one she has shown she is ready to embrace. “Representing my country at such a prestigious event means everything to me,” Suthumdee shared ahead of her departure. “I’m looking forward to giving my best and making everyone back home proud.”

As the countdown begins, excitement is building across the Sokian community especially in the UK  and look forward to supporting and cheering her on 29 April at 12:30 PM at the Copper Box Arena, London.
